In August 2016 the 18th Annual International Conference-School “Advanced Materials and Technologies” was held in Palanga, Lithuania.
Instrumental in the performance of the conference were the Green PE project partners
• Prof. Sigitas Tamulevičius, Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), as chairman of the programme committee and Prof. Donats Erts, University of Latvia, as member.
• Dr. Egle Fataraitė-Urbonienė, Dr. Asta Tamulevičienė, Dr. Tomas Tamulevičius and Rasa Žostautienė (all KTU) as members of the organising committee.
The school was intended for young scientists and PhD students interested in Materials Science and Condensed Matter Physics. This year, 16 lectures were given by lecturers from Belarus, France, Germany, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal and United Kingdom. Topics were related to functional materials and coatings physics, development, technology and application; optical biosensors; plasma polymerization for bio applications; magnetic tunnel junctions; terahertz imaging systems; surface characterization systems using XPS; optical techniques for investigation of carrier dynamics; electron beam lithography; nanofabrication with focused ion beams. More than 100 students and young researchers attended four days of conference-school from Belarus, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Russia and Ukraine. They all had the opportunity to present their posters and participate in the contest of the best poster presentation where eight awards were provided for the most outstanding presentations.
Horst-Günter Rubahn, lead partner of the Green PE project, was member of the poster evaluation committee – together with other colleagues from the Southern Denmark University. The picture shows Horst-Günter Rubahn awarding the best presentations together with his project partner Sigitas Tamulevičius.
